Royal Challengers Bangalore took the Indian Premier League 2023 by storm on Sunday as they beat Rajasthan Royals by 112 runs. This gave RCB two valuable points and got their net run rate positive. The batters put up a great show to help them get to 171-5 in their 20 overs. Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell scored electric half-centuries. Anuj Rawat was the unlikely hero as he made a quick cameo of 29 off just 11 balls to give the finishing touch.

RCB were on fire with the ball as they got RR all out for 59. After the game, Virat Kohli said in jest that if he would have bowled then he would have got RR out for 40. While some fans saw the joke, others were quick to remind him of his 28-run over to Albie Morkel. Kohli, in an IPL game against Chennai Super Kings, had given away 28 runs to the big-hitting South African. Chennai won that game handsomely.

Royal Challengers Bangalore kept Rajasthan Royals to 59 and won by 112 runs

In the second innings, after they had scored 171, RCB were on fire with the ball. Wayne Parnell was the wrecker-in-chief. The left-armer picked up 3-10 in his three-over spell. Michael Bracewell scalped 2-16 in his three-over spell. Karn Sharma made short work of the tail in his short burst of 2-19 in 1.3 overs. Mohammed Siraj and Maxwell picked up a wicket each. It was a very comprehensive win by RCB.

The Faf du Plessis led side has been very inconsistent this season. They have been able to get some good wins but the problem still plagues them. Their Indian batting has not fired.  Rawat played a good innings of 29 off just 11 balls with three fours and two sixes. But their bowling still can do better. Throughout the 2023 season, RCB has been very good in day games but has failed to ace it in night games.

They have blown hot and cold. Their loyal fans would be hoping that they would string two wins together and somehow get into the playoffs. RCB have not won an IPL trophy in 15 editions.
