The ODI World Cup 2023 will be held in India. The 50-over tournament will be held on home soil for the second time since 2011. India had won the World Cup back then on the back of strong performances. At that time, The Men in Blue lifted the World Cup for the second time since 1983 after 28 years at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. India has not won a World Title since 2013.

India head coach Rahul Dravid has said that the Men In Blue has zeroed in on a pool of 17-18 players that they will play in the World Cup at home. India lost their last ODI series against Australia 2-1. India has had injury problems for their bowlers in ODIs. The Men in Blue had also lost an ODI series against Bangladesh. India’s middle order does not have much experience and is low on confidence.

5 Players Who Might not be in the ODI World Cup Squad:

5. Ishan Kishan

Ishan Kishan has blown hot and cold in ODIs. The Jharkhand batter has a double hundred to his name. Kishan can produce big innings, but he has been very inconsistent in getting the runs regularly. India would prefer Shubman Gill in place of Kishan for the opening slot who has been in great touch over the last few months in ODIs and has scored big hundreds. Inconsistency could be a big factor in his non-selection.
