3 Indian players who can shine in Under 19 World Cup 2024

India have won the greatest number of U19 World Cup titles.

The U19 WC 2024 will be starting from today in South Africa. Sri Lanka were set to host the tournament, however, due to the political intervention, Sri Lanka lost the hosting rights of the tournament. As a result, SA will now be able to host the tournament. Sri Lanka have qualified for the tournament as a host nation. The U19 WC 2024 will have 16 teams featuring in it. They are divided into four groups having four teams each.

The top 3 teams from each group would progress to the Super Six stage. Twelve teams would be divided into two groups of 6 teams each. The top two teams from each group would qualify for the semifinal. In total, five venues are picked to host the tournament. They are Bloemfontein, Kimberley, Potchefstroom, Benoni, and East London. The Knockout stage of the U19 WC will take place at Benoni. India has not had a great time with the current team in the U19 Asia Cup 2023.

In the semifinal of the tournament, India lost to Bangladesh and was knocked out of the tournament. Come the World Cup 2024, India’s U19 team will be looking forward to putting up a better performance as a side. India has the legacy of winning the U19 WC for the most number of times. They have won it 5 times in 2000, 2008, 2012, 2018, and 2022 respectively. Ahead of the U19 WC 2024, it is time to look at the 3 Indian players who might shine in the tournament in their respective roles.

Musheer Khan is the brother of Sarfaraz Khan, who is trying hard to impress the selectors to get a chance in the Indian Test side. While Sarfaraz is scoring runs for fun for Mumbai In the Ranji Trophy, Musheer would be looking forward to getting a chance to help India win the U19 WC 2024, after not having a great campaign in the U19 Asia Cup 2023.

In the game against Bangladesh, which was lost by India, Musheer was one of the best batters. He came in at 36/4 and saw his side being reduced to 66/6. From there, Musheer helped India to get to a total of 189 runs on the board. In his stay in the middle, Musheer scored 50(62) which included 3 fours. The number 5 would be looking forward to scoring a lot of runs.
