India and Australia locked horns at the second Test in Delhi at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Australia won the toss and chose to bat. Australia did not get off to the best of starts as David Warner fell early to Mohammed Shami. He made 15 off 44 balls with three fours. Usman Khawaja played a wonderful innings of 81 off 125 balls with 12 fours and one six. He was dismissed by KL Rahul who took a jaw-dropping catch.

Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith were back to the hut early as they were dismissed in the same over by Ravichandran Ashwin. Australia were cruising at one stage at 84-0 but wickets from Shami and Ashwin brought India back into the game. Travis Head looked to take the attack to the bowlers but he was dismissed by a sizzling delivery from Shami.

Australia were dismissed for 263 in the first innings at Delhi

Australia Skipper Pat Cummins made a handy 33 off 59 balls with three fours and two sixes. Peter Handscomb was the other standout batter for Australia as he played both pace and spin well and made a well-crafted 72 off 142 balls with nine fours. All these contributions from the batters allowed the Kangaroos to get to a total of 263 in their first innings.

The bowlers for India weaved magic with the ball again as Shami picked up 4-60 in 14.4 overs. Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja were on song with the ball as they picked up 3-57 in his 21 over spell and 3-68 in his 21 over spell respectively. Australia showed much better application with the bat as compared to Nagpur. Australia would have wanted to stay on the pitch and make more runs and would have felt that the batters could have shown better application on the Delhi pitch.

When India came out to bat for a short while after the Australian innings ended the duo of Rahul and Rohit Sharma scored 4 off 20 balls and 13 off 34 balls with one four to end the close of play on a good note for India. Let us take a look at the reactions on Twitter-
