India will play the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at home for the first time since 2017. India won the last three editions of the Trophy in 2018 and 2021, when they were held in Australia, and also in 2017 by a 2-1 margin. The first Test will be played at Nagpur on February 9.
KL Rahul has not been in the best of form in Test cricket and in the recent two Test-match series against Bangladesh, he scored just 57 runs. He has returned from his wedding recently and also started training for the Australia series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He recently said that he would bat in the middle order if the Team needs him to.
In a stop-start Test career, Rahul has impressed in patches. He has scored 2604 runs at an average of 34.26 and a strike rate of 52.06. He has scored seven centuries and 13 half-centuries. Rahul is also the vice-captain of the Indian side. He has been battling an inconsistent run of form across all formats and has not had the best of times with the bat off late. He will look to silence his detractors and get some vital runs for India as they look to win the series to get into the final of the Test Championship.
The Australian batters are doing what it takes to counter the spinning conditions in India. They have taken the help of Mahesh Pithiya, who bowls like Ravichandran Ashwin. They had a 4-day preparatory camp at Bengaluru, where they practised hard at Alur grounds to adapt to the Indian tracks. The Kangaroos will hope to give a tough fight to India this time around.
India and Australia will look to do their best and win the Test series. The Australian side have played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka and they will look to repeat the heroics that they had on their tour of Pakistan and use the experience in India to try and win the Test series.

Then statement will become
"I'm open to warm the bench if the team wants that".
But no chance of dropping KL since he is VC.
