Sanju Samson has not had it easy being part of the Indian side. The man from Kerala has played 13 matches in ODIs and scored 390 runs for the national side. He has an average of 55 and at a strike rate of 104. He has hit three fifties. The right-hander last played in the ODI series against West Indies in the Caribbean. Samson also did not get the nod in the 15-member World Cup squad. It was hurting for the man.

In a viral Instagram post, Samson said that “it is what it is and that he has chosen to keep moving forward. Samson was taken to Sri Lanka as a reserve player but did not get a game in the multilateral tournament. Samson has been the talk of the town for all of the Indian cricket fans for a long time. The noise from the fans after seeing the post were a lot and some of them said that the right-hander deserved a place instead of Suryakumar Yadav who has not set the stage on fire in ODI cricket.

In the 2023 World Cup, it is likely that the Men in Blue will play Suryakumar at number 6. The Indian Team management feels that the man from Mumbai can be used as a finisher in the Indian side and also has the skills and the acumen to do it. But when it comes to Suryakumar’s ODI numbers they do not make good reading. In 27 matches Suryakumar has scored 537 runs at an average of 24,40 and at a strike rate of 99.81. He has scored two fifties.

In a recent ODI series that was held against Australia at home, the right-hander registered three golden ducks against the Kangaroos which was a very low point in his career. He will want to get his game plan right and find what works for him in ODIs so that he can have a big impact on India’s World Cup fortunes when the tournament starts on October 5.
