‘What the hell is a Tribal Combat?’ – Former WWE writer Freddie Prinze Jr’s take on Tribal combat

The storyline of Bloodline has been so intense and engaging among the fans of the WWE universe. Over the months, a lot of characters have been introduced to the play. The likes of Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso were crucial additions. The addition of Solo Sikoa and Sami Zayn turned the storyline differently.   

Zayn leaving the bloodline led to Jey Uso turning against Roman Reigns after Royal Rumble in 2023. In Summer Slam 2023, the match between the tribal chief and Jey was termed ‘Tribal combat’, which did not go well with the fans. Freddie Prinze Jr, a former WWE writer gave his opinion on the same.

“Tribal Combat was a lie. A farce, a complete fallacy, and I Am pissed off about it. What the hell is a Tribal Combat? I thought these guys were going to come out, Wakanda style, with like a kendo stick, I don’t know if Samoans have shields, but if they do, Samoan shields, and they whip each other’s ass until the kendo sticks broke, and then bash each other with a shield until those breaks. And then when there is nothing left, they just fight,” Prinze Jr. said.  

“No one is allowed to interfere, yet two people interfere. I didn’t feel a lot of Samoan culture in the match, which was just kind of weird to me. And I’m not trying to say it in a woke way, I am just … it was basically a No DQ match,” said the former writer.   

“They have shared the spotlight for everyone involved in this story. From Sami to Jey to Jimmy. Solo is going to be the next one and Roman Reigns of course. He is doing this thing. He does this thing every week. I probably do not say how good he is enough because we are just so used to him being good, but he is killing it. He is the foundation that everyone is standing on right now. So, shout out to him” said Freddie as he praised Reigns.
