Ravichandran Ashwin, the India ace off-spinner, revealed that he had received a scathing comment about workload management on his YouTube channel. It came from a person who was alleged to be a doctor. He talked about it when he did the weekly round-up show on his YouTube channel. He went into great depth about workload management.

Ashwin talked about the topic and he was unhappy with one of the comments that he received. He talked about it in detail in his latest YouTube video. Here is what he said, “One of the guys commented, ‘What workload, dude? In our days, we played non-stop anywhere and everywhere without wearing slippers too. So, what difficulty do you have in playing? Stop complaining’. This was his comment, and he was a doctor as well. I don’t know if he is a real doctor or an aspiring one.”

The level of intensity between first-class cricket and international cricket is not the same – R Ashwin

The 36-year-old was astonished by the comment and also the fact that it was coming from a person who claimed to be a doctor. The off-spinner said that the International level of cricket and cricket at a local level are miles apart. “The level of intensity won’t be the same. People who work five days a week and play during the weekend will wonder how good it will be if they play for all seven days. However, many of you may have experienced pain in hand and leg while playing. I am not stressing about the pain. Every player will have pain, but it is their profession,” Ashwin added.

Workload management has been a hot topic that has been discussed by the cricketing fraternity in recent times. Big ticket players such as Glenn Maxwell and Ben Stokes have taken a break to counter workload management and also to recharge their batteries amidst the hectic schedule in international cricket. Ashwin went on to add that it is very simple to pass comments on the outside but only the players know what they are going through.

“Even I can say that we are playing under the hot sun and people who work sitting in front of a computer are blessed. But no, I have also studied in front of a computer and, even now, on some days, I get the requirement to sit and work in front of the computer. For me, sitting in front of a computer will be even more tiring than playing under the hot sun,” he stated further.
