In the fourth match of the ongoing five-match T20I series, India beat Australia by 20 runs. After batting first, Suryakumar Yadav of India posted a competitive total of 174/9 in 20 overs. However, bowlers led the game as Axar Patel’s classic bowling display helped India restrict the Aussies to 154/7 in 20 overs.

Earlier, in the game, Australian skipper Matthew Wade won the toss and opted to bowl first. Despite playing without key players like Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan, India had a great start. In the first powerplay, the team scored 50 runs after losing Yashasvi Jaiswal.

In his inning, Jaiswal scored 37 runs off 28 balls with the help of six fours and a six. After his departure, India didn’t come back in the game as the team lost the next two wickets within 12 runs.

Skippers Suryakumar Yadav (1) and Shreyas Iyer (8) failed to make an impact. However, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rinku Singh added 48 runs for the fourth wicket. Ruturaj, in his innings, scored 32 runs off 28 balls with the help of three fours and a six. Meanwhile, Rinku scored 46 runs off 29 balls with the help of four fours and two sixes.

In the end, wicketkeeper-batter Jitesh Sharma scored 35 runs off 19 balls with the help of a boundary and three sixes. His innings helped India post a competitive total of 175/9 in 20 overs. For Australia, Ben Dwarshuis clinched three wickets, while Jason Behrendoff and Tanveer Sangha got two wickets each. Aaron Hardie also got a prized wicket from Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Axar Patel broke havoc in the Australian batting lineup!

In response, Australia had a flying start as opener Josh Philipe, along with Travis Head, added 40 runs for the first wicket. Head in his innings, he scored 31 runs off 16 balls with the help of five fours and a six. After his departure, Australia went back into the shed and lost the next two wickets within 12 runs. Hardie (8) and Philipe (8) failed to assist Head in the crucial run chase.

After their departure, a rusty 22-ball, 19-run knock from Ben McDermott also ended as Axar Patel continued to take wickets. All-rounders Tim David and Matthew Short also tried to score some runs, but they failed to put up a show with the bat.

In the end, Australia skipper Matthew Wade tried to do some wonders but failed too, as the visitors fell 20 runs short of the target. For India, spinner Axar Patel took three wickets. With this win, India sealed the five-match series by 3-1, as the last game will be played in Bengaluru on December 3.
