Pakistan will be playing the final of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 against England at the Melbourne Cricket Stadium on Sunday. The Men in Green have already won a World Cup in the shortest format in 2009. On Sunday, they would be aiming to lift their second 20-20 World Cup trophy.

The Men in Green won the 2009 World Cup trophy under the captaincy of Younis Khan. They beat Sri Lanka at Lord’s in the final to lift the trophy. In pursuit of a modest 138-run total, Pakistan chased down the target in 18.4 overs.

Shahid Afridi played an unbeaten match-winning knock of 54 runs in 40 balls in that game and he received valuable support from Shoaib Malik, who amassed 24 runs in 22 deliveries. Recalling the World Cup winning moment, Shoaib Malik broke down while narrating the incident of Younis Khan telling him to hold the trophy following the win.

“When we won the World Cup in 2009, Younis Khan called me and said ‘you hold the trophy’. And that was very special,” the veteran middle-order batter said in an interaction on A Sports.

The Pakistan Cricket Team have a golden chance to win their second 20-20 World Cup title. They have had a pretty dramatic campaign so far. Despite not registering wins in their first two games against India and Zimbabwe, the Men in Green managed to reach the knockouts.

Babar Azam and Co. exhibited a stellar display in the first semi-final against New Zealand, registering a comfortable 7-wicket win. They would be facing England in the summit clash, who are coming on the back of a 10-wicket win over India.

Meanwhile, former Pakistan fast bowler, Shoaib Akhtar has said that it won’t be as easy for England to win when they take on Babar Azam and Co. on Sunday.

“Farak ye padega ki England ek comprehensive position me hai. England ka confidence sky-rocketing hoga. England ko pata hai ki yahan par Pakistan bowlers India bowling ki tarah nahi hai. Yahan kuch na kuch karke jeetna apdega. Itni aasani se walkover nahi milega. (The difference is that England are in a comprehensive position, their confidence will be sky-rocketing. England know

Pakistan bowlers are not like India. They will have to work hard to win, they won’t get a walkover),” Akhtar said on his official YouTube channel.
