Pakistan and England will go against each other in the final of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 on Sunday at the MCG. Both the teams have peaked at the right time and are looking in fine form heading into the finals. However, former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen feels that Pakistan have no chance of beating England and can only hope of England doing the damage on themselves on the big day.

Writing in a column, Pietersen predicted a comfortable win for England in the big game if they don’t dig their own grave.

“Pakistan needs to hope that England self-destructs by being reckless and overconfident. I think it’s an incredible strength that they can just go out there and play the way that they do, but we do know there’s one thing that can happen to this England team – they can get rolled over for none because it’s a sixathon. That’s the only thing that I can see derailing England, and that’s what Pakistan need to hope for, because I don’t think they can derail England themselves. I’m predicting a comfortable win for England,” Pietersen Pietersen wrote in his column for Betway.

Both teams gear up for the summit clash at MCG

England sealed the spot in the final after thumping India by 10 wickets in the semi-final at Adelaide. England openers Jos Buttler and Alex Hales chased down the target of 169 with four overs to spare giving no chance whatsoever to the Indian bowling attack. Pietersen further lavished praise on England’s clinical performance in the semi-final and rated it among the best in the tournament so far.

“That England performance ranks right up there. It was convincing as anything because that Indian team is star-studded. To beat them as convincingly as they did was spectacular. They didn’t let India into the game at all. There was no doubt in my mind when India posted that score,” he added.

The final of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 will be played at the historic Melbourne Cricket Ground on 13th November. With all the anticipation of the big game, there are dark clouds hovering over its fate as heavy rains are predicted on both Sunday and the reserve day of the game on Monday. In case the final gets washed out, the trophy will be shared between England and Pakistan.
