The Legends of Cricket turned the clock back in the third edition of the Legends  League Cricket. The first match was played between the India Maharajas and The Asia Lions. The game was held at West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha.

The Lions scored 165-6 while batting first. In response, the Maharajas amassed 156-8 in their 20 overs and, thus, fell 10 runs short of the target.

After match ended, Shahid Afridi found himself in a weird situation. The former Pakistan skipper went to Harbhajan Singh and broke into a huge laughter. As he hugged Harbhajan, he was about to go and embrace the lady umpire too but bailed out at the last second which left everyone puzzled.

Here is the video-

Misbah-ul-Haq played a magnificent innings of 73 to get the Lions to a competitive score of 165-6 in their 20 overs. The innings came off 50 balls and contained two fours and four sixes. Upul Tharanga also chipped in by scoring 40 runs at the top of the order. Stuart Binny and Parvinder Awana, who took two wickets each, were the top bowlers for the Maharajas.

Gautam Gambhir struck 54 off 39 balls for the India Mahrajas but it was in vain

India Maharajas’ chase finished with 10 runs short of the target. The team’s skipper, Gautam Gambhir, made a valiant fifty to get the team off to a good start, but the contribution was not enough. Former Pakistani pacer Sohail Tanvir was the pick of the bowlers for the Asia Lions, picking 3 wickets for 27 runs.

This is the third edition of the Legends League Cricket that is taking place. Two editions of the tournament have been played, earlier. One edition was played in Muscat, Oman with the same three teams i.e., India Maharajas, Asia Lions and World Giants. In the second edition, there were four sides in the tournament, namely Gujarat Giants, Manipal Tigers, India Capitals and Bhilwara Kings.

In 2022, the Gautam Gambhir-led  Capitals won the tournament by defeating the Kings in the final by 104 runs.
