Neeraj Chopra ended at pole position in the Lausanne Diamond League after registering a best throw of 89.08m. He couldn’t launch a better throw in the second attempt, registering a distance of 85.18m. The man who went for gold at Tokyo had a miss in his 3rd and 5th attempt. In his last attempt, he registered throws of 80.04. He made a foul throw on his fourth try.

He did not participate in the Commonwealth Games 2022, which were held in Birmingham recently because he was out with a groin injury. Neeraj is participating in a Diamond League event for the second time running. In the event before this one, he had attempted a personal best of 89.94 but he was hard done by because it took him only to second place behind Anderson Peters of Grenada who had made a throw of 90.31m.
The Lausanne Diamond League will be the last straw for all men’s javelin throwers to get in contention for the final that is to be played on September 7th and 8th in Zurich, Switzerland. Right now, Neeraj is in fourth place in the Diamond League points table with seven points. The important thing to note here is that only the top six with the most points at the end of Diamond League make the cut for the final.
The ace javelin thrower will be keen to put in his all and provide a great showing in the event so that he will meet the required qualification to get into the final. The Javelin thrower has won many accolades in his sporting career for the nation and will be keen to make it count once again on the road to the final and beyond.
