The 2022 edition of the Women’s Big Bash League is currently underway. Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Thunder took on each other in the last match on Tuesday. Hobart Hurricanes scored a competitive total of 154 runs at the end of the first innings.
Wicket-keeper batter Lee played a stellar knock of 41 runs in just 29 balls, including 5 fours and 1 six. However, the other batters failed to hit the straps. Lee lacked support at the end as wickets kept falling in short intervals.
Lee’s ally, M du Preez also had a forgettable day with the bat as she could only score 10 runs in 11 balls, including 2 fours. However, the South African cricketer displayed an act of brilliance on the field in the second innings.
On the last ball of the 17th over of the second innings, Samantha Bates nudged one to the leg side and set off straight for a single. However, M du Preez was quick to grab the ball and dived full stretch to pull off a sensational run-out.

Earlier, in the second innings, Sydney Thunder got off to a poor start as the likes of Beaumont and Amy Jones got out on single-digit scores. Jensen picked the wickets of both of them.
The likes of Litchfield (28 off 21) and Rachael Haynes (16 off 22) tried to steady the innings but both of them got out at crucial juncture in the game. Once Haynes got out in the 11th over, wickets fell in quick succession and Sydney Thunder found themselves bowled out for just 95 runs.
With that win, Hobart Hurricanes climbed to number three on the table with 2 wins in 3 matches. Sydney Thunders, on the other hand, are still looking for their first win. They have played three matches and have lost all three of them.
