The red card to new signing Darwin Nunez in the clash against Crystal Palace was the hot topic that had an intense discussion but the footage has since emerged of Mohamed Salah and Alexander-Arnold being caught napping before kick-off.

Traditionally, the home team shakes hands with officials and the visiting side as the Premier League anthem plays in the background. The audience never really gets to see this with the lineups being shown on Television. However, footage from the game shows the Reds duo losing their concentration minutes before kick-off.

Alexander-Arnold had Salah to his right, Nunez on the left, and the right-back never spotted that Liverpool’s new Uruguayan striker had moved. The 23-year-old defender stays still, looking out into the stands before Salah looks to his right and notices the rest of the squad making their way down the pitch. A brain fade moment had happened to the two who were caught napping unaware.

The Darwin Nunez Headbutt incident

Andersen and Nunez were vying for the ball in the Eagles’ area ten minutes into the second half. The Uruguayan put his head and flicked his head back towards his opponent. And then as the ball was cleared, Andersen gave the Liverpool record signing a shove in the back as referee Paul Tierney kept a close eye on the pair.

Then it all went pear-shaped for Nunez as he turned and nutted the Dane with a sudden forehead on his chin in a disgusting act of violence. The fuming forward incredibly squared up to Tierney after the ref brandished the red card.

James Milner, who led the side for the night, ran over to the scene to try and calm his raging teammate down before he eventually gave up and headed down the tunnel in front of a shocked Anfield.

It was a debut to forget after he missed two glorious chances to score in the first half. The first saw him completely miscue a volley well off target. And then he scuffed the ball as it sat up nicely for him but it bounced against the far post. Jurgen Klopp fumed at Nunez for his moment of madness, which came with the Reds already 1-0 down after Wilfried Zaha’s goal which was scored in the first half.
