Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan has made his acting debut with a Tamil movie titled ‘Cobra’, the trailer of which was released on August 25, 2022. The former India all-rounder, who was known to surprise batsmen with his swinging deliveries, is now all set to rock the theatres. The film is set to release on launched on August 31 and promises to be an action-packed thriller.
Cobra is an R. Rahman musical, directed by Ajay Gnanamuthu. Pathan will be seen alongside the famed South Indian actor Chiyaan Vikram and KGF fame Shrinidhi Shetty. Pathan is known to play a crucial role in the movie. The cliff-hanger of a film sees Vikram in 20 different and unique avatars.
The veteran cricketer will be playing a role of an Interpol agent from Turkey. The name of the character is Aslan Yilmaz. In the limited glimpses of him, the 37-year-old looks completely submerged in his role.
Earlier, Pathan shared his thoughts after completing the shooting of the film and said that he had an amazing time working alongside one of the mega-stars of the industry. He also hailed Chiyaan Vikram for the latter’s simplicity.
“What I love about Vikram is, he is a very simple man after all the success he had. Whenever I meet him on the sets, we used to have a wonderful time,” said Pathan.
The former ace all-rounder was considered India’s next best all-rounder to Kapil Dev. Pathan played a crucial role in India’s triumph at the 2007 T20 World Cup. He accounted for three wickets against Pakistan and bagged the Man of the Match award in the final.
Pathan, who made his International debut at the age of 19, had the ability to swing the ball both ways and troubled almost every batsman at his peak. One of the highlights of Pathan’s career was the Karachi Test of 2006- the place where he stunned Pakistan by a sensational hattrick and that too in the first over of the match. Salman Butt, Younis Khan, and Mohammad Yousuf were the victim of the bowler’s fiery.
Irfan Pathan finished his career with 1105 runs and 100 wickets in Tests. In ODIs, he has 1544 runs from 87 innings of 120 matches, in addition to 173 wickets. Speaking of the T20Is, Pathan has 172 runs from 14 innings of 24 matches and 28 wickets in total. Pathan can be considered a true all-rounder. He did it all on the field and when came off the field, the Indian aced it in commentary and now in acting.
