Irfan Pathan shares a heartfelt note for brother Yusuf Pathan on his birthday

Former Indian cricketer and world cup winner Yusuf Pathan celebrated his 40th birthday on Thursday as the entire cricketing fraternity wished the all-rounder on his special day. Yusuf’s brother and former Indian cricketer, Irfan Pathan, also shared a childhood photograph of them together and wrote a heartfelt caption.

Irfan took to Twitter on Thursday and shared a teenage photograph of the brothers and wrote, “I Love you then! I love you now! I will love you forever!”

Yusuf made his international debut in the final of the 20-20 World Cup 2007 against Pakistan. The explosive batter scored 15 off 8 balls on the historic day on which India won the first ever 20-20 World Cup title under MS Dhoni.

He went on to play 22 T20Is scoring 236 runs at an average of 18.15 and a strike rate of 146.58. He also picked up 13 wickets in the format at an average of 33.69.

He also represented India in 57 ODIs scoring 810 runs at an average of 27 and a strike rate of 113.60. He also scored two hundreds and three fifties in the format. He also picked up 33 wickets at an average of 41.36 and an economy of 5.49. Yusuf was also a part of India’s victorious 2011 ODI World Cup campaign.

Pathan brothers’ match-winning partnership during India vs Sri Lanka, 2009 T20I at Colombo

Pathan brothers were involved in a memorable match-winning partnership during a T20I against Sri Lanka at Colombo in 2009. Chasing a target of 172, India were reeling at 115/7 after 15.1 overs when Irfan Pathan joined Yusuf Pathan at the crease.

The duo went berserk and was involved in a match-winning partnership of 59 off just 25 balls to take India to an unbelievable victory. Yusuf remained unbeaten on 22 off 10 balls while Irfan scored 33 off 16 not out. Yusuf was awarded ‘Player of the Match’ for his brilliant all round display as he also picked up 2/23 in his four overs with the ball.

Both Yusuf and Irfan Pathan continue to treat their fans with action-packed cricket through their participation in various leagues across the world. Yusuf was recently awarded ‘Player of the Tournament’ in the last season of Legends League Cricket.
