Earlier, riding on Azam Khan’s amazing batting performance, Guyana posted a competitive total of 182/6 in 20 overs.
After winning the toss, the Tallawahs opted to bowl first. Their decision did go well with the team, as Mohammed Amir dismissed Kelvon Anderson for a mere four runs in the first over. However, after that, the Guyana batters played with more caution and put up a comfortable total. Saim Ayub and Shai Hope added 49 runs for the second wicket. Ayub, in his innings, scored 20 runs off 15 balls with the help of three boundaries.
Meanwhile, Hope, in his inning, scored 40 runs off 33 balls with the help of four boundaries. However, in the end, star batter Azam Khan went all out against the Jamaican bowlers. He scored 54 runs off just 27 balls with the help of five fours and four sixes. Riding on his half-century Guyana Amazon Warriors posted 180+ runs on target in a do-or-die game.
Chasing 180+ runs, the Jamaica Tallawahs failed to hold nerves. Opener Brandon King and Alex Hales added 22 runs for the first wicket. Their partnership was the biggest for Jamaica in the game. After early setbacks from Dwayne Pretorius and Romario Shepherd, Jamaica failed to get back in the game. However, the final nail in the coffin was hammered by Guyana skipper Imran Tahir.
