WATCH: Gautam Gambhir reacts to viral video spreading on social media

Gautam Gambhir has been one of the most controversial former cricketers in recent times. Due to his unpopular opinions, the former Indian cricketer finds himself in controversies. Many fans do not like what Gambhir says, particularly about MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. But the latest controversy of the former Indian batter was something unpleasant to watch. 

During the match between India and Nepal, Gambhir was in the stadium as an analyst. As Gambhir was travelling towards the pavilion, some of the fans in the stadium chanted something that did not go well with the former World Cup winner. Gambhir did not like it and replied to the crowd with an unpleasant gesture. As soon as Gambhir replied, the video of it became viral on the internet. 

The fans started speculating on the reasons for the incident. While some were of the opinion that Gambhir should not have done it, others felt that the crowd deserved it. Many interpretations of the viral video meant that things had to be cleared by the man himself. Hence, the media confronted Gambhir and asked for an explanation for his gesture.

The Delhi-born former cricketer said “First things first, I want to tell that the things that spread on social media does not have truth in them. People on social media display what they want the world to know. Irrespective of the truth, the video has gone viral,” and expressed his disappointment over how fake interpretations have been spreading around him on social media. 

Later, Gambhir revealed what took place between the fans and him and that became viral on the internet.  Gambhir said “The biggest truth from the incident is that if you raise slogans of anti-India and if you say Hindustan murdabad, and if you talk about Kashmir, then someone will react in a manner. The reason behind the act was that there were many Pakistani people who were raising slogans against India. They were saying India murdabad,” and gave the explanation for his act.
