The former India opener Gautam Gambhir has finally reacted to the recent news of his heated altercation with ex-teammate Sreesanth in a Legends League Cricket match. In a recent public appearance, a reporter asked Gambhir about the incident, to which the star batter was seen sidestepping from the question. The 42-year-old remained silent on the controversy and shifted his focus to young players at a charity event in New Delhi. Despite the brewing controversy, Gambhir chose to redirect attention to a positive cause during the charitable gathering.

Earlier, following their heated exchange in the Legends League Cricket match, Sreesanth alleged that Gautam Gambhir had referred to him as a “fixer.” Subsequently, when Gambhir shared an old smiling picture on his official Instagram account, Sreesanth responded in the comments with a lengthy message. In the message, he expressed that he had respect for Gambhir and his family until the previous day, but that sentiment had changed.

When questioned by a reporter about the incident, the veteran batter chose not to comment.

“Dekhiye pehli baat toh mere paas aisaa kuch hai nahi iss cheez mein bolne ke liye. (See, I don’t have anything to say about this thing). “Main yaha par ek nek maqsad se aaya hu, unn yuva khiladiyon ko dekhne aaya hu, unn yuva Khiladi ko ek platform dene aaya hu ke jo wo apna, apne parivar ka, apne state ka, apne desh ka naam imaandaari se roshan kar sake, wo mere liye bahut jaroori hai (I have arrived here for a noble cause, to see young players, to give young players the platform to make themselves, their family, their state, and their nation proud in an honest manner, that’s very important for me),” said Gautam Gambhir to the reporter.

Following his assertion that Gautam Gambhir labelled him a “fixer,” Sreesanth extensively conveyed his thoughts to Gambhir via his official Instagram account. The former India pacer also accused Gambhir of verbally abusing the umpires during the game. He also regarded Gambhir as an arrogant and utterly classless human who lacked any form of respect for the people who supported him.

“However, you used the derogatory term “fixer” not just once, but seven or eight times. You even resorted to using the F-word towards the umpires and myself, persistently trying to provoke me. Anyone who has experienced what I have endured would never forgive you. Deep down, you know that what you said and did was wrong. I’m sure even God won’t forgive you. You didn’t even come to the field after that… Come on, God is watching everything,” Sreesanth concluded.
