Virat Kohli and the story of his ever-elusive 71st international century is still a hot topic in the cricketing fraternity. The star Indian batter is going through the worst phase of his career as fans continue to wait for his form to return. Kohli now has gone 75 international innings without scoring a hundred. Kohli’s bad form continued in the ongoing fifth Test against England at Edgbaston as he scored 11 and 20 in the two innings of the Test.
The ‘Barmy Army’ gave a send-off to Kohli as he was dismissed by England Captain Ben Stokes on Day 3. Stokes bowled a vicious delivery which bounced out of nowhere as Kohli edged it to the wicketkeeper Sam Billings who dropped the catch but Joe Root at first slip was alert enough to catch the ball as it dropped out of Billing’s gloves. As Kohli was walking back to the pavilion, Barmy Army was spotted chanting ‘Cheerio’ from the stands.

Talking about the match, India are in a commanding position, leading England by 257 runs. Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Pant are at the crease with the score reading 125/3. Pujara is unbeaten on 50 while Pant is unbeaten on 30. The Three Lions have managed to scalp three Indian batters including Shubman Gill, Hanuma Vihari, and Kohli.
Earlier in the day, India dismissed England for 284 runs as Jonny Bairstow scored a magnificent Hundred. For India, skipper Jasprit Bumrah (three), Mohammed Shami (two), Mohammed Siraj (four), and Shardul Thakur (one) were successful bowlers.
Earlier in the match, team India was struggling big time with the bat in their first innings, but excellent centuries from Pant and Ravindra Jadeja ensured that the visitors breached the 400-run mark
India will be looking to add more runs to their overnight score and take the lead past 400 to bat England out of the game. On the other hand, the hosts would want to take a few quick wickets and trigger a batting collapse.
