Australia registered a thumping 164-run win over West Indies in the first Test to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Riding on double-centuries from Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith, Australia notched a massive score of 598 runs on the board in the first innings. And, in reply, West Indies were bundled out for just 283 runs on the board. Openers, Kraigg

Brathwaite (64) and T Chanderpaul (51), showed grit and determination in the middle. However, once the duo got out, wickets fell at regular intervals and West Indies failed to reach a formidable score on the board.

With a lead of 315 runs, Australia batted only till Lunch and went on to score 182 runs for the loss of 2 wickets. Marnus Labuschagne raised another century as Australia set up a target of 498 runs to win the Test match.

After Lunch on day 4, West Indies openers came out to chase down the target. Once again, the openers showed their class and put on a 116-run partnership.

On day 4, a strange incident took place which left everyone in complete shock. Josh Hazlewood bowled a peach of a delivery to Kraigg Brathwaite, one which seamed away after pitching.

The West Indies batter missed the delivery and the ball touched the bails before reaching the wicket-keeper. Despite the ball kissing the bails, it didn’t come off and, as a result, Brathwaite wasn’t given out.

The video of the incident has been doing the rounds on the internet. Here’s a look at that:

Brathwaite went on to score a century but West Indies were, eventually, bowled out for 333 runs. Nathan Lyon ran through West Indies’ batting unit as he picked 6 wickets for 128 runs in 42.5 overs. Australia, as a result, won the game by 164 runs.
