India and New Zealand clashed in the third T20I at McLean Park on Tuesday. India having taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match T20I series went with just one change against the Kiwis. With Harshal Patel in for Washington Sundar, India were asked to bowl first.

Coming onto bat first, the Kiwi team were dealt a major blow in the second over itself when Arshdeep Singh dismissed Finn Allen. The other opener Devon Convoy however remained strong on the other side and came up with an important half-century (59) to lead the team out of disarray.

Star batter Glenn Philips also played an important knock of 54 off just 33 deliveries which helped the Kiwi team post 160 runs target on the board. Mohammad Siraj was the pick of the bowlers with his 4 wickets in 4 overs. The left-arm pacer, Arshdeep Singh also took 4 wickets in his 4-over spell.

Coming onto chasing the target, India started off poorly having lost their first wicket in the second over itself. Young southpaw Ishan Kishan was dismissed by Adam Milne at just 10 runs. Rishabh Pant who has been given chance to prove his talents failed again as he could only make 11 in 5 deliveries and got out to Tim Southee. Suryakumar Yadav who played a sensational knock of 111 in 51 balls in the last match couldn’t do much in this one as he got out at 13.

Shreyas Iyer also disappointed massively as he was dismissed on the very first ball in the same fashion that he has been doing lately. Newly appointed captain Hardik Pandya then took to the crease and held the innings with his 30 off of 18 with Deepak Hooda (9*) supporting from the other end.

This was when the rain came and as a result of it, the game was stopped. The weather did not clear up even after a significant amount of time and the umpires decided to call off the match. With India right at the par score, the match has ruled a tie and the Men in Blue were adjudged the winners of the series having won the second match.
