Virat Kohli reportedly earns 8.69 Crores for one Instagram post, most for a cricketer

Social media does more than bring celebrities and fans closer. It establishes a great connection between celebrities and their fans. It is a place where people get updates about what their favourites are up to. On the other hand, it has also become a revenue-making tool for celebrities and influencers who can get enormous sums of money in the form of millions per post. When there is sponsorship involved then it comes up to billions per post.

According to scheduling tool Hopper HQ’s Instagram Rich List, sports stars earn the most from sponsored posts on the Facebook-owned platform, with football legend Cristiano Ronaldo leading the list. The Portuguese goal machine, who has 176 million followers on Instagram, reportedly mints Rs 6,73,49,082 per sponsored post.

The Instagram post scheduler is based on how much a sponsored post could cost brands. HopperHQ has compiled its 2018 rich list of the Facebook-owned photo-sharing app that sees Virat Kohli ranked 17th overall Kohli earns an estimated INR 8.69 crore per Instagram post to become the leading Indian on the list. However, his Instagram earnings are only about one-tenth of Kylie Jenner, who gets paid around $1.1 million per post.

Former England football team captain David Beckham, Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale, LA Galaxy striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Uruguay forward Luis Suarez and Irish MMA star Conor McGregor are the other sportsmen ahead of Kohli on the list.

The Indian batter, however, is ahead of Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry and one of the highest earners in sport, Floyd Mayweather Jr., in Instagram riches. Curry and Mayweather Jr. are 18th and 19th on the list.

Kohli has 23.2 million followers on Instagram. The superstar batter is currently on a break from international cricket and he will not take part in a full shorter format tour that is taking place in the West Indies, starting today.
