In the 54th match of the Indian Premier League 2023, Mumbai Indians beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 6 wickets at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Star batter Suryakumar Yadav and wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishanled MI to chase 200 and clinch an amazing victory. Surya, in his innings, scored 83 runs off just 35 balls with the help of seven boundaries and six maximums.
Chasing 200 was not an easy task for the hosts as opener Rohit Sharma was struggling with poor form. However, his partner Ishan Kishan started well and took MI to a comfortable position. Kishan, in his innings, scored 42 runs off 21 balls with the help of four boundaries and as many sixes. He and Rohit were dismissed by Wanindu Hasranga in the same over. However, after that, MI never looked back as Nehal Wadhera along with Suryakumar Yadav added 140 runs for the third wicket.
Though, Suryakumar missed his well-deserved century as he was dismissed by Vijaykumar Vyshak. His batting earned him a standing ovation from the crowd and praise from former India skipper Virat Kohli. Virat came to him and gave him a pat for his marvellous batting performance.

On the last ball, Wadhera hit a six and completed his second consecutive half-century. Wadhera scored unbeaten 52 runs off 34 balls with the help of four boundaries and three sixes. Vyshak and Hasranga proved to be the best bowlers for RCB as both clinched two wickets each.
Glen Maxwell-Faf du Plessis punished Mumbai bowlers
Earlier, after winning the toss, MI skipper Rohit Sharma opted to bowl first. His decision went well with the team as Jason Behrendroff dismissed Virat Kohli for just 1 run. After his departure, Behrendroff dismissed Anuj Rawat in the very next over. After that, skipper Faf du Plessis and Glen Maxwell started punishing MI bowlers. They added 120 runs for the third wicket at the batting-friendly wicket.
Maxwell, in his innings, scored 68 runs off 33 balls with the help of eight boundaries and four sixes, while Faf scored 65 runs off 41 balls with the help of five boundaries and three sixes. Both were dismissed by Behrendroff and Camron Green, respectively. Their batting performance helped RCB to post a total of 199/6 in 20 overs, though, it was not sufficient to stop MI batters.
