Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the skipper of the Chennai side in the Indian T20 League. Dhoni has touched down in Chennai and received a warm welcome at the Chennai Airport. The loyal Chennai supporters were dying to have “Thala Dharisanam” as this might be the last season for Dhoni in Chennai colours.
Dhoni had earlier said that he will play his last game in Chennai. The 2022 edition of the Indian T20 League was held entirely in Mumbai keeping the Covid 19 pandemic in mind. The 2023 edition will be played in the traditional home and away format and the League will be held in 10 venues this season.
Dhoni’s first stop upon his arrival in Chennai was to get to the Team Hotel. The Chennai franchise’s social media account put out a pic of Dhoni arriving at the hotel. The photo was captioned “Thala Dharisanam, finally!” Dhoni will touch a bat and ball after a long gap of 10 months. He has not played top-level cricket for a long time.

The former India captain will be playing what could probably be his last season in the Indian T20 League with the “Yellow Army”. He will play at the Chepauk on what could be his last game. When Chennai play Kolkata on May 14. This game could be his last if Chennai does not make it to the playoffs.
An official from Chennai said, “Yes, it will be MS’s last season as a player. That is what we know so far. But of course, it’s his decision.” “He hasn’t officially communicated to the management that he will go into retirement. It is a special occasion for all CSK fans as Indian T20 League returns to Chennai. But it will be a sad moment if Dhoni plays his s final season,”
Chennai have won four titles in the Indian T20 League and have made it to the playoffs on several occasions. Chennai won their last title in 2021. The 2020 season and the 2022 season was not the best for Chennai as they finished 7th and 9th respectively. The players would want to see their talismanic captain go out on a high if he does so.
