India and Bangladesh Women played out a nail-biting third ODI which took place in Dhaka. Bangladesh won the toss and chose to bat. In their first innings, Bangladesh scored 225-4 in their 50 overs. Fargana Haque was the hero for Bangladesh as she slammed a vital 107 off 160 balls with seven fours. In reply, India also made 225 in their fifty overs. The Women in Blue largely thank Harleen Deol’s priceless knock of 77 off 108 balls with nine fours.
The match was most talked about for Harmanpreet Kaur’s heated comments on the Bangladesh umpires. Kaur expressed her dismay when she smashed the stumps with her bat after she was caught by Fathima Khatun off Nahida Akter. There were three decisions which did not impress the Indians in particular: The dismissals of Kaur, Meghna Singh and Yastika Bhatia. Bangladesh’s Muhammad Kamruzzman and Tanvir Ahmed were the umpires officiating the match. There was no DRS available for the three ODIs and three T20Is.
“A lot of learning from this game. Even apart from the cricket, the type of umpiring that was happening there, we were very surprised,” The Indian skipper said at the post-match presentation. “The next time whenever we are coming to Bangladesh, we’ll have to make sure we have to deal with this kind of umpiring and accordingly we’ll have to prepare ourselves.” She added. India were looking good at one stage when Smriti Mandhana and Deol were going strong and made a 107-run partnership for the third wicket.
But the match turned on its head when the Bangladesh spinners cut down the runs against the Indian batters. During the run chase, India lost 8 wickets for the addition of 34 runs in the last eight overs. It was a bad collapse for them. Despite Jemimah Rodrigues scoring an unbeaten 33 off 45 balls but could not get her side over the line. “Some pathetic umpiring was done and we are really disappointed about some decisions given by the umpires,” Kaur added during the post-match presentation.
Let us take a look at the reactions on Twitter:
Indeed…liked her outspokenness. Though she still need not have reacted that way on the field. She may not have made friends now in that country.

That's what a captain needs to do..speak the truth and against the wrong… these descision could cost the whole match then why can't she just put her obvious point

Good but with Bangladesh we were struggling… Not expected from our girls

Yes the umpiring was bad
But so was India's performance
Also not the way to deal with things
They could have officially made a complaint rather than ranting about it
It was their shambolic performance that got to them to that place
They needed 34 in 56 with 6 wickets in hand— Karthik Sharma (@Karthik62060318) July 23, 2023
Agree umpiring could have been better. But the umpires always gave their best. Sometimes it was correct sometimes they made a mistake. When a batsman doesn't score runs doesn't mean they didn't give their best. Just that they were unlucky

Seriously dude??
Bcci can raise issue with ICC about bad umpiring.A senior player doing this in an international match. There can be no justification for this. She needs to be banned for atleast 5 matches.— Balwant kaith (@KaithBalwant) July 22, 2023
@ICC @cricketworldcup @ICCLive @ICCMediaComms Should interfere and review the match, being a host having a home crowd is an added advantage but that doesn't mean that umpire decision always goes to the tournament host nation. It must be played under the code of conduct @BCCIWomen

I'm not a fan of crybabies.
Even if the grievances are valid, this is not the right moment or setting to address them. As the captain of one of the world's wealthiest & most influential teams, it's essential to exhibit true leadership & conduct oneself accordingly.— Shikhar 🇮🇳 (@ViewFromShikhar) July 23, 2023
