The India vs England series is all set to begin on the 25th of January with both teams have their squads announced. The anticipation and hype for this 5 match Test series is something that everyone is looking forward to. Both these sides have a rich history that goes a long way back to the colonial era before independence. This is where Rohit Sharma will lead his side against an English side known to play their attacking and fearless style of cricket that has become one of the most talked about tactics in Test cricket that no one has figured out how to handle.

This attacking style of cricket might be a thing that might cause problems, but it is also important to talk about England’s form in these conditions as well. The last time England won a series in India was more than ten years ago when they have failed against the Indian spin attack plenty of times. There have hardly been any wins for England in the Indian subcontinent where they have struggled more than conquer the bowling attack. This will surely be a test for the batters who will be up against one of the best in the world once again.

There might not be a lot of good memories for England at this venue, but there have been some big wins that have even surprised the hosts. These were the games where the English had got the better of this Indian side who are known to dominate the side at home. These are some of the best moments of England’s cricket featuring some iconic performances and matches that will be remembered by everyone. There is no doubt that these were moments that showed us that the Indians could also be beaten at home in conditions which they knew really.

So here are the Top 5 Test matches where England got the better of the Indians:

  1. 1980 Test in Mumbai- England won by 10 wickets

1980

This was the first time England dominated a now stronger-looking Indian team in a one-off Test which was one of the best matches at the Wankhede. The Indians were restricted to 242 in the first innings thanks to a wonderful spell from Ian Botham who took 6 wickets, but he was not done there as he went on to score a century to get his side out of trouble and replied with the ball once again with a 7-fer in the second. It was an easy finish for the Poms as they chased down the target without losing a wicket. This was the first few encounters where England completely dominated India at home.
