India won the toss and elected to bat first at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. Rohit, who opened alongside Dhawan, took his time and completed his half-century in 70 balls. Once got settled at the crease, the veteran batter displayed his explosiveness when the middle order failed to shine. Rohit registered his maiden ODI double century with a maximum over cover in the last over of the innings.
The 36-year-old needed just 42 balls to reach his second hundred and eventually finished with 209 runs off 158 balls, including 12 fours and 16 sixes. Dhawan and then captain MS Dhoni also scored half-centuries to help India post a massive total of 383/6. In reply, James Faulkner fought really hard with a blazing hundred but Australia were restricted to 326/10 in 45.1 overs.
