The Indian Premier League 2023 has been all about MS Dhoni. There were a lot of reports coming in which said IPL. But then Suresh Raina said MS Dhoni is going to come back. The CSK skipper also confirmed the same thing at the toss in an IPL 2o23 game to Danny Morrison. From the fans’ point of view, they still want to keep soaking in every ounce of MS Dhoni and as a result, the demand for tickets to CSK’s last league match has gone through the roof.

This can be verified from the fact because of the endless queues at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium. The astonishing fact is that young boys and homeless women, who do daily wage jobs are thronging the queues instead of the fans. The Indian Express in its report highlighted that to get the cheapest tickets costing 1500 INR, there are long queues of homeless people. These people are being offered 800 INR to stand in line as ordered by the black marketers who will then sell a ticket for a minimum sum of 5000 INR.

The tickets were sold out on Paytm – A Chennai Super Kings Fan

“We are being offered Rs 800 to stand in the queue and buy tickets. We will hand them over, and those people in turn will sell them for Rs 5,000 each in the black market. This is the fourth match I’m standing in the queue for and for every six hours, I get Rs 800.” a teenager who was standing in line said. The tickets for matches involving CSK have been selling like hotcakes.

Since most fans are salaried employees, they hire others to stand in queues at INR 500 so that the tickets can be brought, and they can go for the matches. A fan according to Insider Sport said, “You can say it’s unethical and fueling black marketing, but that’s the only option I think I have to watch the match. I tried on Paytm Insider and on CSK websites, but all are sold out. I have an off on Sunday and don’t want to miss out on the match. If I can get a ticket, paying 500 bucks extra, why not. The person I paid to is also earning something, it’s a win-win.”

The crowds are packed to the rafters when CSK play their home matches. CSK face Kolkata Knight Riders next at the Cheapuk which will take place on May 14 Sunday. CSK are currently in second position on the points table. They won their last game against Delhi Capitals at home by 27 runs.
