MS Dhoni has been the perfect cameo hitter for Chennai Super Kings this season in Indian Premier League. The CSK skipper has come in at number 7 and played some quick-fire knocks. MS Dhoni almost finished the game at the M.A. Chidambaram stadium against the Rajasthan Royals. His bulky biceps became an internet sensation, and it made a lot of headlines. At the same time, there was a lot of speculation regarding his retirement too.
Suresh Raina has put all the rumours to rest. The former CSK player is doing Hindi commentary for Jio Cinema in the Indian Premier League. Raina shared insights into the conversation that went on between him and MS Dhoni. The two chatted after CSK had beaten Mumbai Indians by six wickets at the Chepauk. Earlier, there were a lot of reports stating that 2023 could be MS Dhoni’s last season in the IPL and also for CSK. Dhoni has led CSK to four titles in the IPL.

“Wo to keh rahe hain main trophy jeetke ek saal aur khelunga (After winning the trophy, I will play one more year). This is what MS Dhoni had told Raina. This also means that MS Dhoni along with his CSK teammates believe that they can go all the way this season and claim what would be their fifth title. CSK are currently in second place on the points table with 13 points. They have won six games, lost four of them and had one no result.
“I think he will play the way Danny Morrison asked him at the toss and he (Dhoni) said you are deciding it for me. I think he is looking good and batting really well. I think it’s for IPL or Indian cricket, he should continue playing. The Dhoni ki pathshala after every match is very important. A lot of players are learning from him and retirement is his call,” Raina added.
Stephen Fleming also gave the confirmation that MS Dhoni has not raised any thoughts on retirement. In the game against the Lucknow Super Giants, Danny Morrison had quipped MS Dhoni with the big retirement question to which he said that people around him are saying that 2023 could be his last season but he himself has not decided about it yet.
