Three Reasons why Rohit Sharma should be back as India Captain in T20s

Rohit Sharma has won 39 T20s out of 51 matches for India.

Rohit Sharma (Source: Twitter)India started 2023 on a good note as they beat Sri Lanka 2-1 in a three-match T20I series. The side was led by Hardik Pandya and it had youngsters such as Shivam Mavi, Shubman Gill, and Arshdeep Singh taking the field instead of some senior players. It looks like India are acting in haste to change their T20 captain.

Rohit Sharma has been the T20 skipper for just one year. He has lost the Asia Cup and also India crashed out of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 semi-final against England under him. But there is a line of thought that he should be given a longer rope and come back as captain. Here are some of the reasons.

Rohit Sharma has led India for just a year but he has proven that he can handle the reins. The all-format skipper has led India in 51 T20Is, out of which he has won 39 and lost 12. This proves his good record in the shortest format of the game.

He has a winning percentage of 76.47, which is way ahead of former Indian captains Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni, who had a win percentage of 59.28%. The former had a winning percentage of 64.58 in T20Is.
