Long before the T20 World Cup in Australia, Bhuvneshwar Kumar‘s inconsistent performances had put him under the scanner. However, India persisted with him in the absence of experienced options. Kumar had a good run apart from a couple of games which included the semi-final against England. In conditions that favoured his style, he failed to provide India with a good start which allowed England’s openers to milk runs in the initial overs.
Post the World Cup, he played a couple of T20Is in New Zealand but was dropped after the series. Unlike Shami and Rahul, Kumar hasn’t represented India in any format since then. As in the case of Shami, Kumar will hope to do well in the upcoming IPL and catch the selectors’ attention.
