Whenever a run-out happens on the non-striker’s end, it causes debate among the fans. As usual, the fans, experts, cricketers, and former cricketers get divided into the issue. While some believe that the bowlers should not run out the non-striker, others believe that they should, as it is what is in the rules of the game. The debate remains constant and has differences of opinion.
Recently, a similar incident happened in the first ODI between Bangladesh and New Zealand in Dhaka. In the 46th over of the match, Hasan Mahmud the bowler ran out Ish Sodhi, the non-striker. The decision was out, and the batter was on his way back to the pavilion. New Zealand was 224/8 at that point and had no recognized batters apart from Sodhi himself.
But in an interesting gesture, the Bangladeshi captain Litton Das called back Sodhi, who was on his way to the pavilion. Das withdrew the dismissal of Sodhi and allowed him to bat. The gesture of Das and Bangladesh won the hearts of many fans on the internet. It was hailed as a great spirit of sportsmanship by the Bangladeshi captain and the players.
However, it did not go well with many others. The fans criticized the decision of Das for allowing the batter to stay in the middle despite committing a mistake. One of those to criticize the decision of Bangladesh is none other than Tamim Iqbal, one of the greatest players Bangladesh has ever produced. The left-handed batter gave his opinion on the incident and felt that it should have stayed out.
Iqbal felt that people should not react to the run-out dismissals the way do and said they would take wickets that way since it is within the rules of the game. “I don’t see anything wrong in it. The rule is there, if we get someone out, it’s out. I don’t think we should react the way people are reacting nowadays. We’ll take wickets in this way if we decide as a team,” said Tamim.
Here’s how the fans reacted to the news –
It’s against the spirit of the game. Mankading doesn’t look good.

Exactly. Well said. Stop crying all the time: Wow.. what a sportsmanship and all. Or else, if someone drops the catch, why continue? Go to dressing room and show some sportsman spirit.
