Successful Indian Pair with most wickets in Test cricket

In the longest format of cricket, fast bowlers have the upper hand in the game. When it comes to providing breakthroughs it’s very rare to see that bowlers are able to succeed without any help from the other end. Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad are the only fast bowler pair who have taken 1039 wickets from 138 matches.

India may never have had a bowling duo as prolific, but they have seen a number of stars perform well together. During the ongoing first Test against England, one of the hosts’ most distinguished combinations achieved an astonishing new milestone.

1. Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin – 503 wickets

Indian spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin have now become successful bowling pairs for the Indian team in Test cricket. In the ongoing Test match between India and England in Hyderabad, they both achieved their feat in the first session of Day 1.  The duo now surpassed Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh who have taken 501 wickets from 54 Test matches while Ashwin and Jadeja have taken 503 wickets from just 50 Test games.

Ravindra Jadeja has taken 228 wickets while Ashwin has taken 276 Test wickets. They both have played a massive role in India’s stellar performance at home. With many more cricket still to come in the series they both have a chance to hold their position strongly as the most successful bowling pair for India.
