India are gearing up for the West Indies tour comprising of two Tests, three ODIs and five T20Is. Rohit Sharma will lead the team in Test. India are coming to the West Indies on the back of a big 209-run loss to Australia at the World Test Championship (WTC) final. When it comes to India’s Test squad, Ajinkya Rahane got back the vice-captainship after and impressive performance in the WTC final.
Meanwhile, on another note, Mohammed Siraj took part in India’s practice game against Barbados where he gave away a bat and a pair of shoes to young players. After Siraj made this gesture netizens on social media gave a lot of diverse reactions to his gesture. On another note, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad are part of the Indian side. Jaiswal was also a part of India’s squad at the WTC final where he replaced Gaikwad.
Cheteshwar Pujara is not part of the Test squad for the West Indies Tour
The notable omission for India in the Test squad was Cheteshwar Pujara who had a poor showing in the WTC final against Australia. Pujara made 14 off 25 balls in the first innings with two fours and 27 off 47 balls with five fours. Pujara has been a bedrock for India in Test cricket over the years but he has not been able to covert his form in division 2 cricket when he had played ahead of the WTC final.
When it came to the warm-up game, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma showed good form and made a mark for themselves but when it came to Virat Kohli he was once again troubled with his struggles outside the off-stump by Jaydev Unadkat. Unadkat being a left-armer caused problems for Kohli. Kohli has had his struggles against left-arm pace and he was troubled by the Saurashtra skipper.
