India flexed their muscles in the third ODI at Trinidad as they registered a huge win of 200 runs. This meant that India won the ODI series 2-1. India and West Indies locked horns against each other in the Third ODI at Trinidad. On a track that looked good for batting, West Indies won the toss and chose to bowl first. This game was the series decider as it was squared at 1-1.
The Men in Blue-sized initiative with Ishan Kishan and Shubman Gill going all guns blazing. Kishan scored 77 off 64 balls with six fours and three sixes. Gill scored 85 off 92 balls with 11 fours. The right-hander looked to score big for the first time in the series and came good. Kishan registered his sixth half-century in ODI cricket.
Kishan was out stumped by Yannic Cariah. Gill was caught by Cariah off Gudakesh Motie. Ruturaj Gaikwad came into the playing XI for this match but he failed to make it count as he was caught by Brendon King of Alzarro Joseph for just 8 off 14 balls with one four. The onslaught continued as Sanju Samson smashed 51 off 41 balls with two fours and four sixes.
He got out trying to up the ante after playing a good knock. The finishing touches were provided by stand-in captain Hardik Pandya as he flayed the West Indian bowlers all over the park and cracked an unbeaten 70 off 52 balls with four fours and five sixes. Suryakumar Yadav came in at number 6 and looked more assured as he played some shots and hit 35 off 30 balls with two fours and two sixes.
India finished with 351-5 in their 50 overs. In the run chase, the West Indies batters had to deal with scoreboard pressure as they almost fell like nine pins. Mukesh Kumar made the initial breakthroughs as he picked up 3-30 in his seven-over burst. The ever-dependable Shardul Thakur picked up 4-37 in his spell of 6.3 overs and finished with the most wickets in the series. The two sides will now play a five-match T20I series which will serve as an ideal preparation for the 2024 T20 World Cup.

Before Rohit Sharma captaincy, Virat Kohli was rested for only 6 matches during a span of 12 years.
