Shikhar Dhawan has won the divorce case he had filed against his former wife Ayesha Mukherji. The Delhi court allotted the divorce to Dhawan and accepted the allegations made by the Indian cricketers against his former wife. Shikhar had accused Ayesha of taking away his son away and court upheld the argument of Dhawan and granted the divorce on the grounds of cruelty.
Dhawan had married Ayesha in 2012 and had a 10-year-old son named Zoravar. Dhawan accused Ayesha Mukherji of inflicting mental agony as she forced him to have a long-distance relationship not just with her, but also with the son Zoravar for several years. It is to be noted that Zoravar and Ayesha are Australian citizens. Harish Kumar, the Family court judge, accepted the allegations of Dhawan.
The statement of the court recognized that Dhawan had to go through immense agony for no fault of his. “He (Dhawan) for no fault of his own had been through immense agony and anguish of living separately from his own son for years. Even though the wife denied the allegation, submitting that though she genuinely wanted to live in India with him, yet she did not choose to contest the claim,” said the statement of the court.

‘The respondent, has inflicted such cruelty, agony and trauma on him’ – Court statement
The court recognized the fact that Ayesha inflicted agony, cruelty, and trauma on Shikhar Dhawan by forcing him to have a long-distance relationship with her. “The respondent, by conducting herself in the manner, has inflicted such cruelty, agony and trauma on him, that it was impossible for the petitioner to save the marriage,” the court statement stated.
The court granted divorce for Dhawan. “The respondent was required to prove that properties were purchased out of her fund as well or her name was included out of love and affection. Thus, Dhawan’s allegation that she compelled him to make her owner to some extent in all three properties or that she pocketed sale proceeds thereof has got to be believed as true,” the statement of the court concluded.
