Saudi Arabia eyes to invest huge money in Indian Premier League

Saudi Arabia is interested in investing a huge amount of money in the Indian Premier League. A popular report from Bloomberg suggests that the Middle Eastern nation is eyeing to invest 5 billion US dollars in the league, which is valued at up to 30 billion US dollars as of 2023. Investing in cricket’s richest league is seen as a profit by many nations. Saudi Arabia seems to be nothing different.

The advisers of Saudi Arabia’s crown prince, Mohammad Bin Salmaan, have reportedly talked with the officials of the league. The reports suggest that the Saudi advisers have talked with the government officials to move the Indian Premier League to a holding company, whose value is in billions of dollars. This might be a big breakthrough for the league for its global market.

IPL is popular in many parts of the world. To take its popularity to the next level, Saudi Arabia is willing to join hands. When Salmaan was in India in September during the G20 meet in Delhi, talks happened between the Indian and Saudi Arabian officials regarding the same, as per the reports. They claimed that the kingdom wished to invest 5 billion US dollars in the league for its global expansion.

No response yet from the Indian side

While the offer of Saudi Arabia did impress the officials from India, there has not been any official reply from the Indian side. IPL has been one of the richest leagues since its formation. The value of the league has grown exponentially over the years. With every year, its value keeps on growing. Most of the top players in the world, and top coaches in cricket, take part in the league for the money it offers.

The sky is truly the only limit to the growth of the league. Saudi Arabia has a good command over viewership in sports. With the money they possess, they have popularized sports like Football in different parts of the world. Now they are looking to do the same with cricket. For that to happen, India has to respond.
