Sam Curran shares how he reacted to becoming costliest player in Indian T20 League history

Sam Curran, the English allrounder, created history by becoming the costliest player in the history of the Indian T20 League, with Punjab buying him for a whopping INR 18.5 crore in the mini-auction. Known for his ability to contribute with the ball and the bat, Curran was anticipated as one of the hot buys in the auction.

Much to the stuepfaction of the Indian fans and all around the world, the Shikhar Dhawan-led think tank went all out for the Three Lions allrounder, eventually bagging him for the highest-ever bid in the Indian T20 League. Opening up on the same, Curran said that it was a dream come true moment and expressed his delight to play for the team, with which he made his debut in the contest.

“I didn’t sleep much last night, was a bit excited, also nervous about how the auction was going to go. But yeah, absolutely overwhelmed and incredibly humbled that I managed to get what I did. I never had any expectations to receive that,” Curran was quoted as saying to Star Sports.

Further, Curran said that he is excited to join some of his English teammates and claimed that it is going to be one of the cracking seasons for him. Saying that he was all set to join the Punjab franchise, Curran hoped to give it all for his team in the upcoming season. 

“Obviously, going back to where it all started for me in the Indian T20 League with Punjab, where I did my debut season four years ago. So, to be going back there seems fantastic and I am looking forward to joining a few English team mates as well,” Curran was quoted as saying. 

The English allrounder would hope to give his best and make a comeback in the prestigious league. Although one could argue that Curran might be under pressure after going for such a hefty price, the experience of being a part of the league in the earlier editions would come in handy for the southpaw.
