With the 20-20 World Cup just weeks away, every team is focused on coming up with a team that wins them the coveted prize. The Asian teams are currently playing in the Asia Cup 2022 as a practice for the upcoming mega event, while others also take part in similar high-intensity matches prior to the World Cup.
England, having won the 20-20 World Cup in 2010 and the ODI World Cup in 2019, is looking to add another to their growing list of achievements. Today, the England Men’s selectors have picked a 15-member squad for the upcoming 20-20 World Cup.
Dawid Malan, former number one batter in 20-20, has been called up to the England squad for his impressive performance in recent matches. The southpaw has a match-winning strike rate of 148.27 in 20-20s and is seen as a like-for-like replacement for Eoin Morgan. The left-hand batter is also the leading run scorer in the ongoing The Hundred tournament.
The England team will be led by Jos Butler who has taken the baton from Eoin Morgan. Chris Woakes and Mark Wood have overcome their respective injuries to come back into the squad. Reece Topley after impressing against India also finds his place in the team. Adil Rashid, who missed the tour against India due to his Hajj pilgrimage, came back into the team right away and is also included in the 15-man squad. Jofra Archer has not been picked due to his injury.
Phil Salt, the second top scorer in The Hundred, is also included in the squad for the 20-20 World Cup. Salt has replaced Jason Roy, who is going through a torrid time in international as well as The Hundred cricket. Roy has a poor average of 18.72 in 20-20s since the 20-20 World Cup in UAE. Tymal Mills was the leading wicket-taker in the last edition’s World Cup until his injury and has been dropped from the England squad.
England Squad for the 20-20 World Cup: Jos Buttler (c), Moeen Ali, Jonathan Bairstow, Harry Brook, Sam Curran, Chris Jordan, Liam Livingstone, Dawid Malan, Adil Rashid, Phil Salt, Ben Stokes, Reece Topley, David Willey, Chris Woakes, and Mark Wood.

Jofra Archer has already missed out on 18 months of cricketing action and 2 World Cup squads. A bowler of his calibre is a real big miss for England, hopefully he'll recover soon.

Where is Alex Hales?? What an awful decision on leaving one of the best T20 batsman around.

Done Jason dirty, wish the selectors were this quick to drop Zak

Short on bowling. If they don't pick up early wickets. They will chase huge scores. Unless they play India. Because we have best stat padders in Kohli and Rahul

Where is Alex Hales? Best t20 batsman this country has produced and he’s omitted year on year

Ye Roy i dropped. Really wish indian selectors learn something and keep the team above star value of a player

Nothing against Phil Salt, but James Vince clearly deserves to be there instead of him
