Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) mentor Gautam Gambhir will likely excuse himself for one year from the post as he will be busy with the Lok Sabha elections in 2024, as per News 18. Gambhir will continue to be associated with LSG and he will not shift bases. Gambhir will not be doing any India Premier League ( IPL) -related work as he wants to fully devote himself to the elections in 2024. 2024 is an important election year for all the big political parties in India.

Recently, LSG underwent a change in their head coach. Gambhir was instrumental in bringing Justin Langer on board. Gambhir and Langer had previously worked together in Australia where the man from Perth helped Gambhir make certain alterations to his batting technique so that he could bat better in overseas conditions. The former chairman of selectors has also come and joined LSG as a strategic consultant ahead of IPL 2024.

MSK Prasad will bring invaluable experience and insights to our organisation – Lucknow Super Giants

“Yes, Gautam Gambhir is likely to just take a break for the next IPL to political commitments. He is not moving to a different team or leaving franchises. There will be a lot of political work involved in the build-up to the Lok Sabha elections, so he wants to focus all his energies towards that,” A source said to News 18. “Gautam is a big face for BJP in Delhi and elsewhere also his popularity is right up there. So he will be actively involved in election work next year and will not have enough time for the IPL,” The source added.

“Prasad brings with him a wealth of experience and a stellar track record in cricket operations, coupled with a passion that has driven him to remarkable achievements in both national and international arenas. His journey is marked by a range of accomplishments that span from representing the Indian National Cricket Team to steering the operations of prominent cricket associations; all of which will bring valuable insights and experience to our organization,” LSG said in a statement.

Andy Flower who was there in place of Langer as LSG head coach has moved to Royal Challengers Bangalore. When it comes to LSG in the IPL they have made it to the playoffs in the 2022 and 2023 seasons. Led by KL Rahul, they will want to go all the way and get an IPL title in IPL 2024. LSG retained all their other support staff.
