Ravichandran Ashwin’s wife pens down heartful message to celebrate his 500 Test wickets for India

India’s experienced off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin had a stressful 48 hours. After taking his 500th Test wicket for India he was forced to withdraw halfway through the third Test match in Rajkot against England due to a family emergency. After the end of Day 2 of the third Test match, the Indian Cricket Board resealed a statement on Ravichandran Ashwin’s situation.

Moreover, Ravichandran Ashwin was back on Day 4 after seeing his family in Chennai. In his six overs spell, he gave 19 runs and took one wicket. Prithi, wife of Ravichandran Ashwin penned down a heart-touching note for him on Instagram.

She wrote “We chased the 500 to Hyderabad, it didn’t happen. To Vizag, it didn’t happen. So I just bought a ton of sweets and gave it to everyone at home at 499. 500 came and went quietly. Till it didn’t. A lot happened between 500 and 501. Longest 48 hours of our lives.” “But this is about the 500. And the 499 before that. What a phenomenal achievement. What a phenomenal guy. I am insanely proud of you Ravi Ashwin. We love you!” she further wrote.

Rohit Sharma supported Ravichandran Ashwin’s decision

On Day 2 post-match press conference Rohit Sharma supported Ashwin’s decision saying that Ashwin did the right thing by leaving for family as family comes first.

Losing your most experienced bowler in the middle of a Test match is difficult. Putting everything else aside, family comes first. And when we heard the news, there were no doubts in our minds that he should do what he thought was right,” Rohit stated at the post-match press conference.

“He wanted to spend time with his family, which was entirely appropriate. It was beneficial to him, and his ability to work his way in and become a member of the team demonstrates his character and personality. “We were delighted to have him back,” he added.
