India’s most experienced spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is now India’s highest wicket-taker at home in Test cricket. In India Ravichandran Ashwin has played 59th Test matches and has taken 352 Test wickets surpassing another India legendary spinner Anil Kumble. While Anil Kumble picked 351 Test wickets from 63 matches.

Ravichandran Ashwin achieved this landmark in 2nd session of Day 3 in the fourth Test match against England at JSCA International Stadium in Ranchi. Ravichandran Ashwin levelled the record by dismissing Ben Duckett. The very next ball he trapped England vice-captain Ollie Pope as LBW. Ravichandran Ashwin provided a breakthrough as two quick wickets fell for England and the score was 24 for 2. Earlier in the fourth Test match he become the first Indian bowler to take 100 Test wickets against England.

Ravichandran Ashwin is 5th bowler behind Muttiah Muralithara, Stuart Broad, James Anderson, and Anil Kumble to take more than 350 wickets in a Test at home. In the third Test match against England, he became the 2nd fastest to pick 500 Test wickets in cricket. He is the 9th bowler behind Muttiah Muralithara, James Anderson, Shane Warne, Stuart Broad, Courtney Walsh, Glenn McGrath and Nathan Lyon to take more than 500 Test wickets.

Ravichandran Ashwin is not just a normal bowler, but he is also an excellent batsman

Ashwin also became India’s highest wicket-taker in Tests against the two sides. He passed BS Chandrasekhar in the second Test at Visakhapatnam.
Later, Ashwin became the second player after James Anderson to take 100 or more wickets in Tests between India and England.
Ashwin is not just a normal bowler, but he is also an excellent batsman. His first four Test centuries came against the West Indies, and he scored his fifth against England in 2021 at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium.

England first innings hero Joe Root Ravichandran Ashwin was the third wicket. Ashwin trapped Root in front of the stumps as the umpire gave him LBW.
