It was Pakistan and England who reached the final of the 20-20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. The two teams had an opportunity to become the second team after West Indies to win the 20-20 World Cup Twice!
After Babar Azam and Jos Buttler got done with the toss, Pakistan was invited to set up a target. Openers Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan started off cautiously and got to 29 when Rizwan was dismissed at the team score of 29.
Young batter Mohammad Haris who has been tasked with increasing the run rate also failed in the final. Azam was dismissed at 32 by a smart piece of bowling by Adil Rashid. An industrious 38 off 28 by Shan Masood and a quickfire 20 off 14 by Shadab Khan took Pakistan to 137/8 in 20 overs.
Sam Curran who has arisen to the big occasion came up with three wickets again whereas Adil Rashid and Chris Jordan took two each.
Coming onto chasing the total, England were given a scare in the first over itself as Shaheen Afridi dismissed Alex Hales with a peach of a delivery. It was again the England Test captain Ben Stokes who held the innings and brought up a fighting half-century against a quality bowling attack. Stokes played a match-winning knock of 52 off 49 with five fours and one six. He remained unbeaten to take the England side across the finish line.
Sam Curran was adjudged the Player of the Match for his three wickets and the bowling all-rounder was also adjudged the Player of the tournament for coming up with a match-winning performance throughout the campaign.
With this win, England have become the only team to hold both the ODI World Cup title and the 20-20 World Cup title at the same time.

Credit to Pakistan. Few teams would have defended 137 the way they did. Best bowling team.
