Star England pacer Jofra Archer has been ruled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023. He failed to complete his stint with the Mumbai Indians and has been replaced by Chris Jordan. However, in a recent news report, it has been reported that MI is looking at Jofra for a bigger plan. It has been reported that MI has offered him a multi-million-pound deal to stay with the franchise for a whole year.

According to Dailymail Mumbai based franchise has asked Jofra to join them and play for their different teams in different leagues. One of the serious clauses of the deal is that England Cricket Board will need to take permission from MI to play Jofra in international games. It is worth noting that Archer is currently part of the MI family and represents them in two different leagues i.e. IPL and SA20 and he might represent them in other two leagues i.e. ITL and US Cricket League.

However, there is no official update on the deal as of now Jofra Archer needs to agree and sign it. If that happens it will be the first-ever deal in cricket where a franchise will decide the fate of a cricketer, not a board. This might be surprising for some but this is what the future of the game looks like. However, Archer is currently unavailable due to an injury and is rehabbing in England.

Chris Jordan replaced Jofra Archer in IPL 2023

In the ongoing Indian Premier League 2023, Chris Jordan replaced Jofra Archer after ECB pulled him out of the league citing injury. However, Jofra had a poor season since his return to the tournament. He bowled 20 overs and managed to clinch just two wickets and failed to lead a mediocre bowling attack.

Notably, MI bought Archer for INR 8 crore in the player’s auction before IPL 2022. Due to an injury, Jofra failed to play in IPL 15 and made his first appearance for the franchise in IPL 16. In his first game against Royal Challengers Bangalore, he was thrashed by Virat Kohli who smashed him for 24 runs in a over.
