There is big news coming in from the Mumbai Indians camp, Chris Jordan has replaced Jofra Archer in the MI camp. A statement from the MI on May 9 says Archer “will return home to focus on his rehabilitation.” Archer will be monitored by England and Wales Cricket Board. The Three Lions will face off against Australia at the Ashes. The Rohit Sharma led side has splurged 2 crore INR to get Archer on board at the 2022 IPL auction.
“Chris Jordan will join the MI squad for the rest of the season. Chris replaces Jofra Archer, whose recovery and fitness continue to be monitored by ECB. Jofra will return home to focus on his rehabilitation, “MI wrote in a Twitter post. Archer has starred for the five-time IPL champions in five games. His returns have not been great as he picked up only two wickets and gave away 190 runs at an economy rate of 9.50.

Archer was not a part of the 2022 IPL, but MI brought him with the thought that he will play in the 2023 IPL. With him out injured, this no longer appears to be a reality. Chris Jordan, on the other hand, is no stranger to the IPL. He has been a part of 27 IPL matches and has picked up 28 wickets. Jordan has played for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.
Jordan is often called a death-over specialist. If the Englishman steps up to the plate and delivers the goods, then he can shore up MI’s pace bowling for good. MI have had their fair share of injury problems to deal with. Jhye Richardson, the Australian pacer, was also ruled out due to injury. The same was the case for Jasprit Bumrah as well. These injuries have dented MI’s pace bowling line-up.
MI and Royal Challengers Bangalore face a must-win game in the IPL today. Both teams will be looking to get the valuable two points. The team that wins today can rocket to third place on the points table. Both sides are coming off losses from their last game in IPL 2023. In the reverse fixture, RCB beat MI by eight wickets.
