In a sudden ruling, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) along with the Pakistan Cricket Board have come to a consensus of having a reserve day for the India-Pakistan clash. The game will take place on September 10 in Colombo at the R Premadasa Stadium. In case play is not possible on that day then the match can continue on September 11 from the point it stopped on the previous day. September 11 will be reserve day. This arrangement has been made due to heavy rains in Colombo.

If it comes to it, then, ticket-holders have been told to hold on to their match tickets which will remain valid and will be utilised for the reserve day. It also has to be noted that the India vs Pakistan clash is the only fixture to have a Reserve Day in the Super 4 stage. None of the other matches will have this option available for teams. The ACC and the PCB along with Sri Lankan Cricket (SLC) do not want to miss out on getting a full India-Pakistan game and that is why such measures have been taken. The first India-Pakistan fixture in the group stage at Pallekle was washed out due to rain.

The game will continue from the point it was suspended – ACC on reserve day for the India-Pakistan game

“A reserve day has been incorporated for the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4’s match between Pakistan and India scheduled to take place on 10th September 2023 at R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium in Colombo,” The ACC said in a statement. “If adverse weather suspends play during the Pakistan vs India game, the match will continue on 11th September 2023 from the point it was suspended,” the statement further said. Barring this game, the final will have a reserve day as well. the summit clash is expected to take place on September 17.

The weather in Colombo has not been the best for playing cricket. The Lankan capital has had rains which have been bucketing down that have cut short games or that have forced them to be abandoned, there were talks of shifting the Super Four matches to Hambantota but it was eventually shelved out as India and Pakistan were both not in favour of it.
