Chennai Super Kings showed why they are the most consistent side in Indian Premier League history. The MS Dhoni-led side picked their fifth title in IPL. CSK beat Gujarat Titans by five wickets in a cliffhanger of a final. Ravindra Jadeja repaid the faith CSK showed him after things were not on an even plain after the 2022 season ended. A six and a four off Mohit Sharma sent the Ahmedabad crowd into delirium.
Kedar Jadhav also contributed to the drama by paying an ode to MS Dhoni in Marathi. He talked about MS Dhoni winning the fifth title for CSK. In the same ode, he paid tribute to MS Dhoni the man, the phenomena and the keeper batter. Jhadav has had an interesting IPL 2023 himself. He was commentating for the Marathi Team on Star Sports in April. Then in May he played for RCB until their last game but did not get many opportunities.

After RCB got ousted by GT in their last game at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, he went back to doing commentary. Interestingly, Jhadav’s fairytale moment with CSK happened in IPL 2018. In the opening game against Mumbai Indians, he hit a ramp shot for six and then hit the winning boundary in a high-voltage encounter. But he also injured his hamstring in that game. In IPL 2023 he did not set the stage on fire for RCB in the limited opportunities that he got.
Now CSK and MI are on par with each other in terms of IPL titles. Both of the franchises have won five each. The legend of MS Dhoni still continues to live on. No one knows MS Dhoni’s mind. That means the big question will be whether he will play another IPL season in 2023 or will he call it quits after 6-7 months.
The IPL 2023 has kept on giving, the tournament has not been short on adrenaline. The home-and-away concept has provided mixed results for the franchises. Most of them haven’t been able to get on a consistent run this season as the teams have been equally stacked due to the higher auction purse coming in.
