The 2023 ODI World Cup will be held in India. The World event will take place in the country for the fourth time. This time, India will play host to the tournament standalone. When the World Cup was last held here in 2011, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka were also co-hosts for the event. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will ask a delegation team to go to India for checking out the venues before giving the green signal for Pakistan’s travel to India.

An official source in the Inter-Provincial Coordination (Sports) Ministry said that the government, which includes the foreign and interior ministry, will deliberate and decide when to send the security delegation to Indian shores. They will take up the matter after the new chairman of PCB will be announced after the holidays finish for the Eid festival. “The security delegation will go with representation from the PCB to inspect the venues where Pakistan will play and also the security and other arrangements made for them in the World Cup,” he said.

The Pakistan delegation will inspect venues like Chennai, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad

“The security delegation will go with representation from the PCB to inspect the venues where Pakistan will play and also the security and other arrangements made for them in the World Cup,” According to the official. He said that the delegation would make a thorough inspection of Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad. The India-Pakistan game would be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium on October 15.

“Before any tour to India, it is standard practice for the cricket board to seek permission from the government which normally sends a delegation to India,” The official further said. “The PCB will share the report with the Cricket Governing Body and Indian Cricket Body if the delegation has any concerns,” he added. Even in the T20 World Cup in 2016 in India, a delegation was sent by Pakistan to give a report on venues and it was on the advice of the delegation that the India-Pakistan game was shifted to Kolkata from Dharamshala.
